Sienna Loren

At ten weeks old, this is our new niece, Sienna Loren Applegate.

Remember the sister-in-law I went to see it Seattle?  Well, this is the special sweetie she was carrying for all those months.  My brother and she met us at home where we spent 10 wonderful days with our family.  Here's one happy grandmother.

And this is one very excited uncle

My brother, Jordan, taught himself to play the piano while in Iraq for 6 months - he's really good!

Sweet mommy...

Okay, no more narration...I'll get straight to the plethora of pictures I have for you

And last but not least, here is a proud "Poppi"

Nashvegas!!!

A few weeks ago, Allison and I took a weekend trip to visit our friend, Keisha, in Nashville.  Keisha and I were armed with our cameras and Allison was a GREAT (and extremely cooperative) model.  The weekend together was much needed and something we'll definitely have to do again.

Aren't they lovely?  I miss you girls!!

Snow Day

This was the friendliest squirrel - isn't he cute??

Remember Betsy?

A season for giving

Words cannot do this memory justice, but I'll give it a shot.  As I was sitting in Starbucks one afternoon, I looked out the window to see this young woman and her child putting a pair of new gloves on this man's hands.  It was such a meaningful gift and it got me thinking.  Why do we pass these people by on the streets as if they are criminals or people less than worthy of our respect?  Why do we give a few coins here and there instead of items that are necessary, like meals, hats or gloves?  I try my best to be generous, but after a while I become numb to the needs that these people have - the need for love, the need for contact, respect, warmth.  This image embodies all that we should be doing for our neighbors - we should be giving them not only material gifts, but also love and consideration.  And we should be teaching our children to do these things as well, as this mother has so thoughtfully done.

Merry belated Christmas from our home to yours!

Diet? What diet?

Meandering...

I hope you love this picture as much as I do.  To me, it represents the tranquility snow can bring and it makes me sigh with contentment each time I see it.

Holiday Spirit

Back in Boston, John and I celebrated our second Thanksgiving as a married couple all by ourselves.  I love these days...we wake up late, slowly get lunch together, do some skype-ing with the family and begin the Christmas movie watching.  Does anything sound better?

Our feast...

Boston is very holiday-oriented. Check it out.

And to finish off any day, some hot chocolate w/ homemade whipped cream :)
